5 Tropes You'll Find Inside Violets & Vipers

felicityhewittauth

Hello, and welcome. Today, I will cover five tropes found in my debut novel, Violets & Vipers, the first in The Shadow Knight Series. Don't worry; I'll keep the descriptions spoiler-free.

1. Hurt/Comfort This is one of my favorite tropes. The MMC takes care of the FMC in a vulnerable state, providing comfort, soothing her pain, and alleviating her fears... For me, there's almost no trope better, and it never fails to fill me with warm fuzzies.

2. Intimate platonic friendships This is a bit more of a micro-trope/rare trope, but I love it all the same. Two people, intimately connected, with no romance yet close, even closer than family, sharing such a strong bond that they're there for one another, providing hugs, a shoulder to cry on, and unconditional love and support.

3. Kindness as a strength I love this trope. It is another rare one, yet it is so important. Kindness can sometimes be viewed as a weakness, but I see it as one of the most admirable traits a person could possess. To lift up and support others, to turn the other cheek or be the bigger person, and to offer grace, mercy, and forgiveness to those who deserve a second chance is a true measure of strength.

4. Cinnamon Roll MMC I recently learned of this term and fell in love. It perfectly encapsulates the MMC in my novel. He's faced some hardships and is a little hard on the outside, yet he carries a soft heart, especially for the FMC, whom he loves more than life itself. He freely offers his support and is her greatest cheerleader while remaining fiercely protective of her.

5. Arranged marriage I personally enjoy this trope. What begins as an arrangement that one or both parties fears or dreads turns into a budding romance that blossoms into a passionate and unconditional love as they both come together and confess their true feelings for one another.

If you enjoy these tropes and want to discover what else is in store, then you should check out my debut novel, Violets & Vipers, where you'll find these tropes and others as well as some that are fresh, original, and may even surprise you. You can find my novel on Amazon for preorder. Releases on March 10th in paperback, ebook, and on Kindle Unlimited.
